Hello Kindergarten
Parents,
I hope you are all
having a great week. I hear some of the children are starting soccer tonight!!!
How exciting :)
In school this
week, we have been reviewing the rules and expectations for a fire drill.
We had a fire drill last Friday. The morning students all
participated in the fire drill. The students are usually such great listeners.
However, we were very excited that day and some of us forgot some of the rules
and expectations. So both classes this week will be reviewing and practicing
the rules and what to do during a fire drill.
Student safety is
always our top priority, so we have to ensure that all of the students know
what to do during a fire drill. However, fire drills can make some children
feel nervous and anxious. So if you think your child might be upset or anxious
you may want to talk with your child at home about safety and fire drills.
This might also be
a good opportunity for your family to review and practice home fire drills. If you have time, you may want to
visit the public library. There
are some wonderful books that are very useful in preparing kids for fire drills. Below are some books that may help
your child understand why we have fire drills and help prepare them for fire
drills at school:
• Arthur’s Fire Drill by Marc Brown
• Fire
Drill by Paul DuBois & Jennifer Swender
• Miss
Mango and the Fire Drill by Jamie Harper
• It’s
Fire Drill Day by Steve Metzger
Thank you so much for your help and support.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Lai
