We had a Fabulous Friday. This morning we had a guest speaker in our classroom. Microscope Mark, from Mad Scientist came to teach us all about Slippery Science.
- We learned that slime is moist, soft and sticky. It can be found in nature.
- The two ingredients to make slime are polymers and cross-linkers
- Polymers look like chains of repeating links
- Cross-linkers help clump the polymer chains together
- The more cross-linker you add to the polymer, the clumpier the slime will get
- Polyvinyl alcohol is a type of polymer, and sodium borne is a type of cross-linker
The students had lots of fun exploring science this morning with Microscope Mark. Our classroom was filled with laughter, giggles and science fun. We watched some cool science experiments. We also got to make our very own slime.
Following our amazing science lessons, we had a snack break in our classroom and went outside for our school photo.
Microscope Mark will be back on Friday June 23 to to visit with our afternoon class.
This afternoon, we started our day together singing some songs. I am a big believer in incorporating music into the classroom. It really engages the students whole body and brain, and helps them remember new concepts and ideas. We sang some phonics and CVC songs together. We also practiced reading and printing our CVC words. Following our hard work, we all enjoyed a snack break and we went outside together for recess. We ended our day together with a little go noodle dance party.

Please watch your child’s backpack for an order form for our Ken Taylor School Group Photo. If you are interested in ordering an 8” x 10” color photo please return this form with payment to the school prior to June 16th, 2017.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Lai
