We had a fabulous day today! We started our day reading independently on the carpet. The students are really becoming super readers. They are very interested and engaged in learning how to read, it is very exciting to watch their growth.
Together as a class, we read our morning message together. We reviewed our popcorn words and talked about the number of the day, the fabulous number #24. We also reviewed different ways to represent the number twenty four. We used pictures, words, tally marks, ten frames etc... We also wrote a variety of addition sentences to equal 24.
The students also did a wonderful job writing in their journals today about their fabulous weekends. We always start our journal time by first drawing pictures in our journals. Drawing is a great pre-writing activity for us. It allows us to reflect on what we did and create a visual picture to engage our brain. Once the students are done drawing their pictures, then they are ready to begin using their knowledge of sounds and letters to write a simple sentence to match their illustration. The students all did a great job on their journals today. Everyone worked very hard to do their very best writing.
After all of our hard work, the students enjoyed a snack break and center time. It was a very busy day, full of learning, friends and fun.
Just a friendly reminder, to please return your child's Home Reading book to school tomorrow.
